An average of 50-60 staff are employed in the school. The majority of teaching staff are St Helenian, alongside a number of UK teachers sponsored by the Support Teacher Scheme. Local Initial Teacher Training is provided as a two year course at the Teacher Education Centre. At any one time a number of staff will be off-island pursuing further training and qualifications. The Support Teacher Scheme, funded by The Department for International Development (DfID) in the UK, allows some of the staffing difficulties inherent in a small population to be alleviated and exposes the school community to different ideas and approaches to education. |
