Prince Andrew School was officially opened on the 5th June 1989 by John Mark Taylor MP.  The opening of the school marked a new phase in Education.  With the introduction of Prince Andrew School, the Department moved from a two tier education system to a three tier one and for the first time in local history all students were given the chance to attend a secondary school that offered Public Examinations.

The vicinity for the school was well chosen and Francis Plain with its central position of the island and its beautiful surroundings make this an ideal setting for the school.

Prince Andrew is a community  school with facilities which cater for both the educational and social needs of secondary students. In addition to classes during the day, the school is open during the evening for both academic and social activities.

Named after HRH Prince Andrew, because of his visit to the island in 1984, the school has since been honored by a visit of HRH Princess Anne in 2002.
