April '06
Since its inception in 1999 the school website has undergone minor changes in style and content but 2006 sees a reworking of the whole site with the addition of a new section, archiving the photographs of the past six years and some not previously published.  These changes come about following requests and comments from people like you.  Keep sending them in. Every message is read, praise is enjoyed, critical comment and requests are carefully considered .  Enjoy the new site.

  Charity Launch
Malcolm Bowers and Angela Williams attended a whole school assembly on 10th April to promote the launch of a new island charity.  The St Helena Cancer Support Awareness Charity was initiated by Malcolm who has experienced cancer first hand at only 25.  The charity aims to raise funds on island and overseas which will be available to provide support for families of cancer sufferers.  The fund is organising its first main event in the form of a Latin Style Carnival to be held in Jamestown on 29 April.  The students of the school made a contribution to the fund by paying a donation for the privilege of having a non-uniform day, electing to wear instead the charity's colours of purple, pink and yellow.

  Swimming Gala 2006
April 13th, the day of the school's annual swimming gala.  The day started with warm sunshine at Jamestown's open air pool and with the school fully assembled the gala started at 10.  The races were hotly contested and no fewer than ten records were broken, nine of these in the lower school, the practice sessions with Mr Stewart Leo and the pool team, leading up to the day had obviously helped the younger competitors. Despite a heavy downpour at mid day the competition remained hot and at the final race only one point separated the lead teams.  Unfortunately Jenkins had victory snatched from their grasp by Cavendish following the former's disqualification in this final relay.

  New Book Project
M. Michel Martineau, the island's honorary French consul and curator of the island's historic French properties, launched a book project at the school on the morning of 10th March.  The book will be a pictorial 'snapshot' of the island as the students perceive it.  The theme will parallel a project initiated by Sir Hudson Lowe in 1816 which described St Helena in detail during the time of the captivity of Napoleon Bonaparte.  It is hoped that photographs and sketches from participating students will illustrate the changes to the island over the past two centuries.  The project itself will provide a baseline for future comparisons particularly following the anticipated completion of an airport in 2010.
