| Hi to all at Prince Andrew School. It's a pleasure to see the school website up and running. I recognised some of the pupils I use to teach, cant believe how all grown up they are! Looking at the website reminded me of many of the good old times spent at Prince Andrew as a pupil back in 1989-1992 (boy I do feel old). Would be great if you could rummage into the archives and if possible put some 'oldie goldies' on the website of years gone by. Thanks and kind regards Kara Symonds (nee Mercury) | |

| It's good to be able to view the website of one of your old schools. However I can now come to the conclusion that there are no more 'events' happening at the school, because the 'Events' section hasn't been updated for nearly a year, there is still a part dedicated to something that happened two and a half years ago. Come on school management there must be something that has happened recently that's worth mentioning - then again......!! Anthony Somers, UK. | |

| Miss Squires and other Teachers Thanks for your reply to my e-mail i was hoping i would hear from you because i really wanted to know your opinion on my grades its nice to know they were pleasing to you. But like i said last time i couldnt have done it with out you lot you gave the knowlegdge and the confidience in in myself to get me through especially as it was hard making the move just to say i never want to hear anyone put Prince Andrew School down because compared to the school i went to here and for that matter most of the schools i know about in the UK PAS is school heaven all the teachers connect to the students and are compotent and get the knowledge through you are professional in organising affairs and a far more competitive and encouraging and sports promotional school and any known school here you have never last GCSE Exams results before or had to call tthe police because someones head has been bashed open or have left the room and mysteriously some kids finger gets a skewered with a electronic sewing machine needle not pretty and all true honest ask sonja or natasha... and these things are all because there is no discipline here and the students have no will to learn students at PAS may say they hate school but thy actually would be lost without and its never true they actually mean the complete opposite we love school or at least i did thanks to you. | |

| jus wanted to say that i have finally recieved my GCSE Results and would jus like to sahre them with you because without the teachers of Prince Andrew School i would never have achieved this much! Especially thanks to Mr Darlow and Mrs Samantha Duncan for their help in tutoring me in the subject of ICT as this is one of the subjects i am studying as part of an intense business and computing/marketing course i am studying at college to start in September yeah College girl i made it Mrs Joy George. I am also studying English Mrs Squires and AS/A2 Mathematics aswell Mrs Jeanette Williams and Law alongside my college choice and a part course in child care and education as a afterschool activitiy Mrs Helen George just to let you know. I just like to say that i recieved seven A grades at GCSE three A* and four A grades and a few B grades for design and Technology thanks to my past tutorial and the knowledge gained at both st pauls middle and PAS by all the Technolgy teachers: Mr Claddy Duncan, Mr NIcholas Plato and the others thank you. And if Mr schilder where still working here he might like to know that i gained a C in fine Art thanks to his past teachings thank you. So all of you can be proud of me because i came through for you and Mrs Squires just to say msot of my A* grades were in English subjects: speaking and listening, English Literture and Drama so i guess i owe them to you because it was the course work i did at PAS that got me those grades and i used my science coursework as well Mrs A Dillon and Mr Allan Watts and Mr Deon Yon a big thank you aswell. You were all great courses! Also my appreciations to Mrs Jeanette Williams and Tessa Yon, Danielle Stevens, jackie williams and lucy cranfield and julie Marie Leo for their help with my maths etc over the past few years it got through to AS/A2 level maths! Also thank you to all those who were friends with me in the past you were the lot that really got me through PAS especially you Julliette i owe alot to our friendship thank you for putting up with me ha ha ! Good Luck on your results guys this goes for all the students in year twelve come september! | |

Gwen Yon - Prince Andrew School - Libarian Dear Gwen, I was just browsing through the Prince Andrew support staff photos and came across your photograph. Were you at the SSS with me some years ago? Your face looks familiar ,but in some respects you look too young to be the Gwen Yon who was a member of staff with me . I have been trying to visualise how you would look now - its a bit difficult because in my mind you will always be in my memory as the person I used to know. You do however have very similar features. When I was at the SSS there were two staff who were Yons - Mabel Yon and Gwen Yon - both were good teachers who worked so hard to improve the standards of the students. I am still in touch with quite a few of those students who are now resident in the UK , Canada, and two in European countries. I am now living in two countries - both the UK and also Cyprus. At present we tend to spend most of our time in the UK and only go out to our home in Cyprus during the Summer holidays. Our daughter Helena is at present at Peterborough Regional College, but should finish there next summer. If you are not the Gwen Yon I used to know, perhaps you know of her whereabouts? Best Wishes, David Streatfield. |

| We have been viewing the Prince Andrew School Website which we thought was brilliant but could do with a little updating. We are ex-students of Prince Andrew School and we amount to a total of 31 guys consisting of three shifts whereby training is given in South Carolina fire Academy in the United States to everyone who wants to enroll within this position. The main line of our jobs is to ensure core expertise is in defense electronics. We deliver missile systems air and missile defense products, air combat and strike systems, surveillance and reconnaissance, naval & maritime integrated systems, and aircraft integration systems. We continue to pioneer command, control, communication and information systems that provide a near-real time picture of the battle space and technical services, support services and product support that meet the most demanding requirements. | |

Hello Everyone Its Emma Woodley, just came across your site and I was very impressed. It is very good I enjoyed looking at all the photos although I did'nt recognise any of the students. They were all probably really little when I left. I've been in England for six years now and I live in Portsmouth with my boyfriend Rich and our little boy Robbie who will be two next month. I attended Prince Andrew School from January 1991 to June 1994 and left to become a Police Cadet with the St Helena Police. I expect some of the teachers will remember me probably for been really shy and not very talkative in class. I recognise some of the teachers who use to teach me from the photos on the site. And I also saw a photo of my uncle Anthony Hopkins. Can you give him my best wishes I hope that Elaine and Timon are fine. Many Thanks. I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of my parents next week theyare coming to live with me and Rich, I have'nt seen my dad since I left home so I am getting very excited. Please keep up the good work. I would love to hear from anyone at the school. If you want to contact me my e-mial address is rwignall@fratton-park.co.uk Take Care Lots of love from Emma |

| Hello It's Laura! I've been trying to access the PAS site for a while now and at last I've got it, and it was worth the wait. I left school in 2000 to work at the Radio Station, then left for Ascension Island and now I'm in the UK. I know I could have stayed on but to this day I don't regret it, just miss you guys~Emma, Alfreda, Zara, Isabel, Ryan, Shannon, Leon, Aaron, Arthur, Marco, Jason, Alan and of course Russell! Even miss the teachers... (wow!) Won't forget the good times, some not so good but everything happens for a reason eh. Nice to see my poster! Dear Staff
and Students, How very refreshing to see that you have got an active web site. There may be some of you ,whose parents I taught at the old SSS-Secondary Selective School.Look up your local history and find out when I was the Headmaster at Ladder Hill ? The sight where the Prince Andrew School is now situated, was where I used to live.I don't know if they demolished the house on Francis Plain,or whether it still stands.I was told ,before I moved in to Francis Plain house that it was haunted,it was supposed to be a girl who had been raped in the house and then murdered by a garrison soldier.Although I lived there for two years,I never saw the ghost but there were some strange things that seemed to make me wonder.I sometimes would wake up and feel a coldness in the top bedroom - the one nearest to the road.On other occasions there used to be a sound like a coin dropping onto the floor and then it would roll and finally stop. I used to have chickens in the garden and there used to be the remains of an old car from the 1920's.I think its number was 27.The chickens used to go under the bonnet and lay their eggs.It didn't have any wheels and had laid there ,in the garden, for many years before I lived there. We had over 120 chickens, and two sheep to try and keep the grass short. There were also some banana plants growing in the garden, and we used to get large stems every few months. At the bottom of the garden were a lot of Cape Gooseberries growing, and they were wonderful.I even had one the the neighbours make me some pots of jam from them. There was also a small swimming pool in the garden, but we never used it because of the shortage of water. The water for the house came all the way up from the gut below by means of a ram pump. In those days, people would pass the house on their way from Fairy Lands to Jamestown. They would follow a track that used to go down by the side of the heart-shaped waterfalls. They often stopped en-route and sold us some of their produce that they were taking down to the market to sell and at the same time water their donkeys at the gateway to the house. We always had a large bucket of water for the donkeys. The one thing that was never possible to get used to were the large rats that were in the roof, and despite the fact that we used to put rat poison in the loft,we never completely got rid of them.Francis Plain was a lot different in those days. The football pitch was on an incline and made playing difficult if you were playing uphill.I played for the team and one of the members was Basil George and another was Rex Duncan. We sometimes played against teams from visiting naval ships - and we always won.We used to have our Sports Day on Francis Plain and it used to be a really big event. I have very pleasant memories of St.Helena and I often come across old students who now live in England.I'm hoping this year to meet up with some of them when we have the Sports Day in August at Reading in the UK.If any of you have parents that I used to teach, give them My best wishes and say it would be really nice to hear from any of them ,or of course from you. My very best wishes to all staff and students David Streatfield. |

Hi Everyone Just wanted to say what a great Web Page - glad to see that it has progressed from those early days and it projects a wonderful image of the school and its environment - congratulations to the webmaster - is it Andrew? I hope you are having a good academic year and the curriculum is expanding well. I just wanted to say that I miss many wonderful things about St Helena - especially the staff from PAS and at other schools on the island plus other friends I made, the walks, golf and the weather. It took me a few months to get used to UK way of life and up to date with the curriculum over here and learning to cope with Keyskills, which seems to be attached to every qualification that one has to teach. The only qualification I am teaching the same as on St Helena is IBTIII but I have two groups. I expect you have heard that I am off to Tristan in August with Bill Dickson (the man from the FCO!! - I expect Karen will chuckle at that!!) and besides teaching in the school I will be helping to grow our own vegetables and bake bread. Luckily I like cooking and baking so actually looking forward to the experience. I always knew being a farmers daughter would stand me in good stead as we are also going to keep our own chickens and ducks. With best wishes to you all and look forward to hearing from you (if you have time) - Tricia Harwood PS We chose this email as it reminded us both of St Helena and Ascension!! |

| I have looked right through your very interesting web site. We have a personal interest as Nadia Abu-Shanab (Year 7) is our ex-next door neighbour here in Leeds, England and she told us about the site in a recent e-mail. I will definitely return to see what has been done further to develop the site - it would be great to see more photos, e.g. of school events. What a wonderful setting in the hills for a school! My son (also 12 years old) and I are very envious, living in a city as we do. The info about the student from Tristan was most interesting. What about some more articles like that about students who normally live in St. Helena, how they get to school, how far it is from home, what the holidays are etc would all be interesting. Keep up the good work... Moira and Clay Garland | |
